COLLECTION CONTINUES THROUGH DECEMBER 23, 2016

Art is medicine for the soul. Paint, brushes, crayons, paper can’t cure cancer, but they do help people transcend suffering and worry. That’s why the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and FRANK Gallery collaborate to provide art supplies to patients and their caregivers in the N.C. Cancer Hospital. The program is called the Oncology Expressive Arts Program and they need your help!

This is a very special program that lends a creative and therapeutic outlet for those fighting, and healing, by making collages, patients and caregivers channel their inner artist. When nurses and caregivers temporarily step away from the bedside, they gaze at a sunny landscape by the elevator or a loving portrait in the hallway. The arts can bring hope and joy when it is most needed.

The Oncology Expressive Arts Program at N.C. Cancer Hospital is one of FRANK Gallery’s many community-outreach programs. Every holiday season, the ninety-four artists assemble a small mountain of art supplies at the gallery to help spread cheer through the arts, and allow this incredible program to begin their year off with a freshly stocked supply of materials.

How you can help: Please donate supplies, especially complete art kits that the patients can use in bed. Fill the bin to the brim in FRANK Gallery. Items may be dropped off beginning immediately, through December 24th.

On December 3rd, FRANK will host a community holiday party to launch the event. All are welcome to attend, and encouraged to bring their art supplies to add to the bin that night.

Please contact Torey Mishoe, gallery manager, at 919-636-4135 or [email protected] with questions or for more information about the event.
