ARTIST STATEMENT
Curiosity drives my work. A blank canvas can be daunting, but printing with various materials in the wash creates random imprints—an invitation for me to paint into. Like solving a puzzle, these printed images form a base layer upon which I build, layering translucent color and connecting elements with line to create depth and dimension.
I work in both watercolor and oil paint. With watercolor, I dilute the paint to achieve luminous, translucent layers, allowing light to pass through and interact with the surface. With oil paint, I experiment with various mediums to thin the paint, exploring different viscosities and transparencies. Light and shadow play an essential role in my work, casting forms and painted shadows that enhance the spatial effect. Structure emerges through light, color, and pattern, yet the process remains open to chance, allowing visual spaces to unfold organically.
