Part-time Assistant Manager & Event Planning - Non-profit Art Collective Gallery

Position Overview
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Assistant Manager to support the Gallery Director in growing our events program, maintaining operational excellence, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role is essential for ensuring seamless continuity when the Gallery Director is unavailable and plays a key role in advancing the gallery’s mission.

Key Responsibilities
:

  • Event Planning and Execution: Take the lead in organizing and growing the gallery’s events, from concept to execution, including scheduling staff/volunteers, managing logistics, and ensuring high-quality experiences for attendees.
  • Operational Support: Assist with administrative and operational tasks that complement and extend the Gallery Director’s responsibilities, ensuring no detail is overlooked.
  • Customer Service Excellence: Engage with gallery visitors, collectors, and event attendees, providing a warm and professional experience that fosters connections and supports gallery sales.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work seamlessly with the Gallery Director to achieve shared goals. Communicate thoughtfully and thoroughly with artists, visitors, and stakeholders to uphold the gallery’s reputation.
  • Continuity of Operations: Act as the primary point of contact and ensure smooth gallery operations when the Gallery Director is unavailable.
  • Administrative Assistance: Support inventory management, event promotions, and other day-to-day operational needs.


Qualifications
:

  • Strong experience in event planning and customer service roles with retail experience 
  • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and adapt to dynamic environments.
  • A keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with art gallery operations or nonprofit work is a plus. 
  • Proficiency in social media, event management tools, and standard office software.


Additional Information
:

  • Reporting Structure: Reports to the Gallery Director.
  • Work Environment: Primarily on-site, Thursday-Saturday as well as evening and weekend hours required for events.
  • Employment Type: Part-time (hours and schedule to be determined).
  • Part-time hourly position with a rate of $20/hr.
