Create a piece of mosaic art for your garden through the exploration of the art of mosaics during this four-week (10 hour) course. We will begin this hands-on course with a brief history of mosaic art and will explore modern mosaic installations from around the world. Students will learn mosaic techniques using shape, color, shading, and texture. Students will work with a range of mosaic materials that can be used indoors and outdoors, including multi-shape & texture glass tiles and ceramic tiles, gems, stones, beads, found objects. We’ll also discuss the best adhesives for indoor /outdoor use. Students will create a 3D mosaic garden piece appropriate for outdoors: either a 3D outdoor flower sculpture (tulip or daisy) , a grouping of mosaic rock art, or a 9-inch-tall birdhouse, flowerpot, or bird on a stake. All materials are included in the class fee, including substrate. *Minimum 4 students/Max 10
